SANDY, UTAH - Potential political candidates and those considering running for political office in the future are invited to attend a non-partisan campaign management training seminar sponsored by Utah Farm Bureau April 6-7, 2010.

The seminar is designed for candidates running for public office, their spouses, and their campaign manager. Additionally, individuals interested in running for public office in the future, or prospective campaign managers are also invited. All are invited to attend together so they can learn and work as a team.

The “campaign school” was developed by the American Farm Bureau Federation with input from political consultants and staff of both major political parties. Videotapes and a computer campaign simulation assist in the presentation of the seminar. These mediums will allow participants the opportunity to have meaningful, hands-on experience and to test techniques, tools, and methods.

The seminar teaches how to evaluate the candidate and the electorate, analyze the issues, build a campaign structure, raise money, enlist allies, create coalitions, and get last-minute, election day voter attention. The seminar will be taught by Linda Johnson, Senior Director of Policy Implementation for the American Farm Bureau Federation, former U.S. Senate aide, and former Director of Government Relations for Washington Farm Bureau.

“This is a great program we are excited to bring to Utah, and we encourage all candidates to participate,” said Utah Farm Bureau Federation President Leland Hogan. “We also encourage our Farm Bureau members to spread the word about the seminar.”

The seminar will be held at the Utah Farm Bureau Center in Sandy and the cost is $125 for non-Farm Bureau members, $75 for members. The total fee includes lunch both days.

The school will run from 9 a.m. until approximately 6:30 p.m. on April 6 and will conclude after lunch on the 7th.

Editor's note: The two-day strategy seminar is limited to 30 participants. Contact Tiffiny Monson at 801-233-3011 or Matt Hargreaves at 801-233-3003 for more information. Alternately, you may view and print a brochure from the Utah Farm Bureau Web site: http://utfb.fb.org.
